Gallery Paintings of Roosters by Chagall
Marc Chagall (1887-1985) was a preeminent modernist and created artworks throughout Russia and Europe, and eventually in the United States. Historically renowned as a maker of gallery paintings, Chagall was also a daub hand at stained glass and produced several pieces in cathedrals and a commemorative piece for the United Nations collection.
As a painter, Chagall’s shapes and color sensibility are notable but it is his poetic, sometimes yearning, always personal, subject matter that sets him apart. He combined anything from childhood dreams and broken memories with imagery from the Bible as well as Jewish lore. One symbol among many that reoccurs in his work is that of the rooster. On behalf of Chinese New Year, which for 2017 is the year of the Fire Rooster, we looked into Chagall’s paintings of roosters—of which there are many! Enjoy these gallery paintings of the artist and the captioned information will tell you more about the unique symbology of this modern master.

I believe that you are wrong. I'm sure. I can defend my position. Email me at PM, we will talk.
